SELECTED PROJECTS

2015

Analema Group: QIMA Project

Analema Group presents QIMA – project in development exploring relationships between music and vision, sound and color, aiming to create visual music compositions for audiences and musicians. Participants explore qualities of music through vision using their own voice or a musical instrument. Both proffessional musicians and audience can participate.

QIMA uses mathematical equations of cymatics – sound waves creating patterns in matter to present sound in visual way. Emerging experience allows to see inner relationship within music through visual geometric patterns, based on change of frequency and other parametres.

Analema Group’s mission is to reflect on the nature of perceptual phenomena, exploring the relationships between sound, colour, light, movement and form. Analema Group presents participatory art and music filling the gap between performers and audiences. Developing an art of the future, Analema Group sends participants on a journey, enabling them to go deeper, questioning our senses, questioning the boundaries of perception.

We Are Water and Light Association (Asociación Somos Agua y Luz)

We Are Water and Light Association is involved in research, development, the raising of awareness, and in training programs related to water therapy. It is a team of professionals that includes psychologists, therapists, and biologists whose main task is to promote health and wellness.

Techniques suitable for both for spa-resort and open sea conditions are used, and special attention is given to groups with physical, mental or neurological disability, fibromyalgia, cancer or other diseases.

The partnership also aims to help preserve the oceans and animals that live in them, and it collaborates with programs that protect cetaceans, whales and dolphins.

Project Dragonfly: Permaculture

The project developed from the idea of creating a space where various ideas could be realized. It is based on two key concepts: cultivation and research. It involves growing healthy and nutritious produce as well as healing herbs that help people to be healthy and feel their best every day. The research focuses on the management of natural and other available resources thus fostering people’s ability to live in harmony with themselves and the surrounding world.

A tool for the practical realization of these ideas – that is what permaculture really is. It revolves around the following goals and issues:

*Environmentally-minded management of natural resources. Ecological and biodynamic agriculture. Preservation of local biodiversity. Land management. Use of water. Shifting towards regenerative agriculture.
*Local balance: support for rural areas, cooperation and neighborhood associations.
*Culture and education: innovative techniques. Social ecology. Dissemination of knowledge through teaching and shared experiences.
*Health and well-being: eating healthy, fresh and extremely nutritious seasonal products, prevention of diseases. Tools and technology: renewable energy, reutilization and recycling of waste.
Environmental design: bio-architecture, bio-cooling systems.

Let your creativity thrive and let you share with knowledge and experience that will be enriching for all of us – it is one of the main objectives of the project.

Bloko Del Valle

Bloko del Valley is a musical and socio-cultural association working in the Canary Islands, the Basque Country and Kenya.
Bloko del Valley:
Turns music into a means of cultural exchange.
Promotes interaction to enhance tolerance and knowledge of other realities and ways of understanding life.
Promotes through music such concepts as equality, respect, cooperation, assertiveness, fellowship, tolerance, etc.
Uses music (especially percussion) and other forms of artistic expression (choreography, dance, circus, audiovisual arts, etc.) as a means of fostering multiculturalism and improving the development in countries with less favorable conditions, putting special emphasis on children.
Proposes percussion as an element that makes music more accessible for those who for various reasons find it less relevant, affordable or close to their lives, and who are at risk of exclusion for physical, social, economic or cultural reasons, especially in less developed territories and countries (in Africa, etc. )

Humans & Dolphins Talking

The project is about establishing a two-way language between humans and dolphins as a basis for creating lasting relationships honoring the marine environment.

Humans & Dolphins Talking is a project led by Peter Sugarman and a team of advisers. For nearly 40 years, Peter has pursued a deep passion to establish two-way communication with dolphins. This has included many years of dolphin research, study, technology development and many hours spent with dolphins.

The project optimizes the chances of developing real, two-way conversations with dolphins by:

• establishing long-term sustained and frequent language-teaching interaction based on the aUI language

• with the same individual young dolphins

• who are participating voluntarily

• in the wild

• using our powerful, fully developed language that can evolve based on a set of simple  rules incorporating our values of discovery, inspiration, play, curiosity, connection, creativity, equality, mutual respect, and mutual understanding.

OnE (Ocean'n Earth) of Wonder Project

The project consists of different activities establishing positive interaction between all that is “outside” and what is “inside”, as they reflect each other:

*Mutual contemplation between the cetaceans and humans. Humans are not just watching cetaceans, but interact with them. Where creatures of the Ocean and people of the Earth become OnE. Consciousness is engaged in playing.

*Breathing as a means to connect, with silence and conscious breathing exercises helping to connect with cetaceans and with ourselves. It takes place during communication with cetaceans, through different role games and contemplation on boat or on the beach. It’s about integrating movement and stillness, sound and silence.

*Animal communication. A new perspective on education and knowledge of self and environment. Not loaded with philosophy, religion or any special “techniques”. It is fun, inspiring and healing in itself.

Cetacean Science Lab, where the cetaceans have much to say about their role in the environment, provide scientific data that can help open-minded researchers in the field.

The International Code

This is a tool for a more emphatic, practical and affective communication between all human beings of all ages races and cultures.

Although it is inspired in the globalism of Esperanto, they are not comparable, as this code does not aim to share or use words, or sounds but postures and forms (may be sounds) that can be done with the human body (arms, legs, and head).

The selection of these postures and forms in each case should be done taking in account the different cultures of countries, communities and tribes of the world, in the search of the ones that suit the majority.

The participation of all this communities and individuals– starting with the deaf who have a lot to share in this project, will allow to give birth to a code that will respect and not interfere with the existing local, national and international recognized sign languages, but complement the actual nonverbal communication among people, to make it more effective.

This is a tool for all human kind. New generations need an evolution of sustainable models that allow integration and productivity.

Style Of Life Academy

The main goal of the project is to help people to become happier in their everyday life.

If one wants to be successful and happy, it's not enough to get a new knowledge or learn new skills, more important is to put them in your daily live through mindfulness and lifestyle change.

Style of Life Academy was founded by Svetlana Landa, transformational coach and a leading expert in Life &Work Balance (LWB): " My dream is to increase the amount of happy people all around the world, to support them in discovering their nature, developing their talents and following their hearts. "

Style of Life Academy’s  programs help to open the inner source of strength and inspiration, change habits and lifestyles to better and healthier ones, to make dreams come true and build more balanced lives.

Dolphin Communicator

This application is for conducting two-way communication experiments using whistles. Using this app, you may emit one or more whistles and listen to the response by dolphins (the app will show you the sound and try to recognize them for you), then you may reply with your own whistles.
Main Features:
- Emit whistles selected by the user
- Acquire whistles from the surrounding sounds and keep them in a lexicon
- Recognize whistles; when a whistle is recognized it is identified to the user
- Shows the energy and frequencies of surrounding sounds in a real-time spectrogram
- Database to save, export, analyse, and share whistles and other data.

More Than Travel

The company established in 2012 offers a new approach to travelling.
The project’s mission is to help people better understand themselves through better knowledge of the world.

Specially tailored, highly unusual trips instead of standard and stereotypical patterns. We do it so that you can spend one or two weeks as a “little life” in itself.

We arrange travels with experts deeply involved with the cultures and history of the respective countries and an excellent knowledge of all the special places. Each of our experts is sure to make you fall in love with the place you see.
This is a club of active and interested people who want to get more from life and from each journey. That is why we call it “more than travel”.
These are intellectual travels with experts in history or art, music, architecture, fashion, archeology, design, literature as well as in arts and crafts and gastronomy. All the travels are connected with remarkable cultural events like music festivals, exhibitions and art fairs, auctions, concerts and theatre performances, balls, carnivals, national holidays. Each journey deeply immerse you in the culture of the country or the city concerned. You visit the places that are not open for everyone.

International Academy Of Kindness

It is a non-profit non-governmental organization that through its activities advances the principle of kindness in the world: “Humans are human only if they are kind. Kindness is a solution to all problems. Where there is kindness, there are no borders.”
The Academy supports people whose lives and actions reveal the higher purpose of the idea of kindness. It also erects around the world symbolic monuments of kindness – the Dandelions.
The Dandelion is an image of fragility, as well as kindness, love, and friendship. The idea behind the monument is that every stamen of dandelion is a hand, palm open for greeting, with an eye in the middle of it, symbolizing an open heart.
Together the palms form a sphere, the Earth. As long as we are kind, the Earth will exist.

FREE D Project

Julia Petrik's freediving school Homodelphinus presents the FREE D Project:
Free Dolphins, Free Diving, Free Dimension.

Free Dimension – where boundaries of time are obsolete, where movement is free from the familiar constraints of the time-space continuum.

Free D is the Dolphins’ Dimension. The ocean is their home. The ocean space adds a new dimension to movement – Depth. The only movement here is the Free Flow – the Flow of Water, Flow of Time, Flow of Life. It’s where we can feel that time is condensed, and sometimes live an entire life within a few seconds.

Free Diving is the ability of human being to immerse into the ocean waters. This ability is deep inside our nature, as an ancient memory of our aquatic origins. Freediving means moving onto a different level of breathing, in tune with the tides of our internal sea. It means entering a new Dimension, where our movements merge with the flow of the World Ocean. This is how the Dolphins and Whales breathe and move, how they live.
Freediving is Deep immersion where the depth is determined by inner freedom.

When A Dolphin Touched A Child

Olga Chernyavskaya’s Theatre of Dreams is a new generation theatre the key idea of which is to be in active interaction with members of the audience and their inner worlds.
The theatre seeks to establish soul to soul contact, to connect with the inner child in each viewer. This is why psychologists and art-therapists were involved in the production process.
The lead character, Delphiska is an intermediary between the world of humans and that of cetaceans.
We are guided into the world of light and kindness by dolphins, who also assume the role of our mentors.
When a Dolphin Touched a Child is an instruction on how to transform – through acceptance of your inner child and primordial nature, and through interaction with the dolphins – chaos into unity, misbalances into harmony, darkness into light.

Mitcald By Tonina Association

The projects main purpose is to identify risk factors for the population of tropical calderones (short-finned pilot whales) around Tenerife. The increased boating activity south of the island, and the absence of data on the population dynamics of resident pilot whales are causing great anxiety about their future.
Identifying factors that threaten the survival of the cetaceans, we obtain an indispensable tool for administrative decisions aimed at decreasing the most harmful factors – in a logical sequence, with the aim to guarantee that the socioeconomic development remains compatible with preservation of natural habitats, and with environmental objectives in the area.

Pencils of Promise

The riveting story and the guiding steps anyone can take to lead a successful and significant life.Adam Braun began working summers at hedge funds when he was just sixteen years old, sprinting down the path to a successful Wall Street career. But while traveling he met a young boy begging on the streets of India, who after being asked what he wanted most in the world, simply answered, “A pencil.” This small request led to a staggering series of events that took Braun backpacking through dozens of countries before eventually leaving one of the world’s most prestigious jobs to found Pencils of Promise, the organization he started with just $25 that has since built more than 200 schools around the world.

Banana Leaf Technology

This is a new eco-friendly technology to keep leaves green for 1 year without any chemicals, replacing plastic products. The project is presented by Tenith Adithyaa, a teenage scientist, researcher, innovation scholar, computer programmer and serial Inventor from India. His contribution to science and computer field as a child prodigy since 8, he received global recognition and accolades that includes 2 Guinness world records attempt.
Naturally leaves don’t stay long. When we pluck out leaves from plant they dry out in three days, and are usually thrown away as waste. There was no technology to preserve leaves without chemicals - artificial, especially plastic products harm our environment. The desire is to make a perfect replacement for plastic and paper resulted in this research.
This technology preserves the leaves for 1 year with green color and 3 years without the color. This patent-pending technology increases crushability, durability, stretching ability, resistance to extreme temperatures, makes banana leaves pathogens free, convenient to use for many purposes. Items made from banana leaves can potentially reduce the output of similar products by up to 59 % for plastic, and 18 % for paper products. Leaf products are 66 % cheaper than average cost of products with similar use; the waste they generate is consumable by animals. Some 30 million trees can be saved annually. This technology is capable of solving 19 challenging environment problems.

JI

PLAY as the construction of reality.
PLAY as the creation of models and images of the world.
PLAY as one of the three main components of dolphinic worldview and way of life.
What would a civilization be like if it differed from ours just in one aspect: if life and play existed in people’s language and consciousness not as two separate notions, but as one integral concept of life-play, JI.
What would our vision of the world and the mode of existence be in that case?
The Artefact – an ancient literary work, 12 Vessels of JI, will be presented at the Festival.

Mind Mirror project

How does our state of mind affect our self-awareness? Mind Mirror is an artistic meditation on such questions. A user's shifting brain waves are used to modulate their self-image. The more one is able to remain calm and as well as reach an attentive state, the clearer their portrait becomes. The viewer's portrait in a virtual mirror demonstrates a multiplicity of possible photonic states and the image in Mind Mirror is a variable double portrait that reveals both the viewer's portrait and his or her changing internal states of mind.

Institute of HeartMath

The Institute of HeartMath is an internationally recognized nonprofit research and education organization dedicated to helping people reduce stress, self-regulate emotions and build energy and resilience for healthy, happy lives. HeartMath tools, technology and training teach people to rely on the intelligence of their hearts in concert with their minds at home, school, work and play. The mission of the Institute of HeartMath is to help establish heart-based living and global coherence by inspiring people to connect with the intelligence and guidance of their own hearts.

A heart is just like a smart phone connects us invisibly to a large network of information. It is through an unseen energy that the heart emits that humans are profoundly connected to all living things. The energy of the heart literally links us to each other. Every person's heart contributes to a 'collective field environment.' The energetic field of the heart even connects us with the earth itself. Scientists at the Institute of HeartMath explain the mysteries of this connection between people and the earth, and even the sun. They have already conducted extensive research on the power of heart, the heart/brain connection, heart intelligence and practical intuition

MNUSHI

MNUSHI (Meditative Natural Unique Somatic Healing Interaction)is an original project developed by Alexei Skipper, envisaged as a way to bring people back to themselves, to their consciousness, into the body. For it is through the body that our intuition awakens, and we begin to perceive the world and other people in a different way.
The practice doesn’t require words, it is international, very human and meditative. MNUSHI is not about massage, it’s about the possibility to feel a fellow human being with your heart. As a result even after only one session people become more graceful, quiet, relaxed. That’s the whole point – to go back to yourself and to see the world as it really is.
For everyone it can be an experience of being in the presence, in the body, and in contact with Oneself and the Other.

This practice involves elements of Thai yoga massage, pulsing, Sufi and other techniques.

The ARTicle® is a media initiative based in the Dominican Republic and it promotes the recognition of culture and tourism as tools for development – among the Dominican government, museums, business companies, as well as the general population – understanding that there are still a large number of Dominicans who are not aware of their cultural identity.

Looking to connect Art with education, The ARTicle® launched The ARTicle LIVE; a set of conferences which focus includes scientific, cultural and academic topics.

It was founded in 2014 by Maria Batlle as a digital magazine about Creative & Cultural Entrepreneurs and today The ARTicle® has grown into a multimedia network: the magazine; original documentaries; cultural events; and conferences.

In 2015, The ARTicle® started a collaboration with the Ministry of Culture of the Dominican Republic, the León Cultural Center, the National Direction of Folklore of the DR, the PropaGas Foundation and FUNDEMAR (the Dominican Foundation for Marine Studies).

With research and conservation projects, campaigns, environmental education as well as its contributions to a range of important international committees, OceanCare has undertaken concrete steps worldwide to improve the conditions of life in the world’s oceans. In 2011, OceanCare was granted Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations to provide expert advise on questions surrounding the protection of the marine environment.

ReThinking Animals

Thinking Animals, Inc. is a New York-based not-for-profit organization whose primary goal is to provide a scientific basis for the intrinsic value of other species and their importance to our collective future. Governed by a board of directors and a scientific advisory board—including philanthropists, scholars, and nationally recognized experts in the field of animal behavior—Thinking Animals fosters an appreciation of animals' cognitive and behavioral capabilities; engages the public in educational experiences that broaden their understanding of, and delight in, the underlying relationships among humans, animals, and nature; and motivates people to become more actively involved in the development of future policies and activities related to animal well-being, conservation and the stewardship of biological diversity.

Whale MuseSeek

"Whale MuseSeek" is a collaboration between David Rothenberg and Maria Batlle - founder of The Muse Seek Project- and it explores the sounds and vibrations of the humpback whales together with Deaf children in the Dominican Republic. The Muse Seek Project is a non-profit breaking barriers between music and Deaf children.

Costurilla Handmade is a small textile design studio located in Tenerife where we create single pieces, inspired by nature.

Combining materials and textures we create unique pieces that remind us that summer is a state of mind.

All designs are inspired by nature and marine life and each "character" is the result of trips and magical

encounters we had in the Ocean.

Staying Alive: The Sacrifice Of Giants

Staying Alive: The Sacrifice Of Giants is a new ecologically sensitive choreographic work that combines dance, video, and photography in an attempt to sensitize people to the natural behavior of the inhabitants of our oceans - the cetaceans.

The emotional and choreographic patterns are designed according to the social structure of the international event "Empty the Tanks," a global movement which stands against the captivity of cetaceans, promotes public education, ecotourism, and the conservation of the species and the ocean.

Concept Sea Explorer By Terre Marine

Catamaran sea explorer of scientific discovery travel to educate for awareness, to study, to discover, to share.

Our Actions :

- Detect ocean surface and under-water noise pollution for analysis, data set construction.

- Collect data from marine vertebrates species while sailing quietly :

Moving in complete silence, the vessel is literally a floating acoustic laboratory (hydrophones, frequency analysis programs, digital recorders and sonograms, equipment for data transmission). Sea Explorer collects vital informations about marine mammals, seabirds, fishes correlated with the state of marine environment ( CTD sonar, niskin bottle, bathymetric 3D software)

- Propose a responsible  tourism (« citizen and science program) With « participative maritime expedition », laboratories and scientific institutions thereby have the means to implement their finding. It’s an opportunity for scientists to approach the amateur base to unite a group of people around the subject with common values to create relevant tools for environment awareness and towards scientific progress.

Sea Explorer  will be launched  in June 2016.

Time Without a Watch

Do we realize that time passes faster when we are having fun? Children play, play, and play. It seems like five minutes, and it's already been an hour.

The project is about the perception of time in animals and children.Do animals have a perception of the time? According to some scientists, only humans have a real memory, while other animals’ perception of the time is limited or episodic. The different ways in which time is perceived can be related to different uses of it, such as escape strategy, communication or feeding (metabolism). Often it is connected to movement in space, as is the case with dolphins. It turns out, that time and its perception are relative not only in theoretical physics. The project is a playful lab for kids. Children are conducted in a fascinating “time travel” from focusing on their own perceptions of time while at play to getting a sense of how different animals “feel” time.

Orques Sans Frontières

The Association created in 2002 by Pierre Robert de Latour comprises active members, patrons and honorary members. It is part of a broader spectrum of associations concerned with the protection of environment and biodiversity, and fighting against the captivity of wild animals. It dedicates itself to getting to know, making known and protecting orcas.

The Age of Happiness

For some reason we still believe those who really mastered the secrets to longevity and youthfulness can only be found in hermit caves or monasteries somewhere high in the mountains or deep in exotic forests. This isn’t true. Such people live among us: in the neighbouring house, one street over, in cities that we frequent. We just don’t know about them, and because of that, lose an incredible opportunity to learn from them a way of life that just yesterday seemed like absolute fantasy.

It is an international project that serves to change your perception of life after 70, 80 or even 100. It is dedicated to active ageing.

Réseau-Cétacés (Cetacean Network)

Réseau-Cétacés (Cetacean Network) is today one of the main sources of information available to the public on cetaceans.

The activities of Réseau-Cétacés include:

* Interventions through international meetings, media relations, communities etc. in order to mobilize public opinion whenever there’s a threat to cetaceans and their environment, and to spread important information.

* Setting up an information network to denounce the conditions of cetaceans in captivity, to put an end to it, to get dolphinariums closed or converted, and to release the dolphins, orcas, porpoises, and belugas ... held captive.

* Implementation of an action plan against the massacres of cetaceans perpetuated in Japan and the Faroe Islands.

* Regular monitoring of solitary and familial dolphins, also called "ambassador dolphins" observed in French coastal waters; informing the public and the authorities about them, and management of problems inherent in particular to these dolphins.

* Campaigns to convince governments to abandon non-selective fisheries and to support fisheries programs harmonized with the marine environment.

A Man Who Can Make Clouds

Berndnaut Smilde is a visual artist from the Netherlands. His work consists of installations, sculptures and photos. Using his daily surroundings and spaces as motives, Smilde is interested in the temporal nature of construction and deconstruction. His work refers to both the physical state of a building as well as a moment of revelation that depicts either hope or fragility. Smilde analyses spaces and their appearance and takes them apart to investigate their unique details and features. His artistic point of view often centers on duality. His works question: inside and outside, temporality, size, the function of materials and architectural elements.

He created a number of self-made clouds – the Nimbus series. A weather phenomenon is brought indoors, but only for a moment.

Whaleguide

With the new "Whale Watchers World" you will know where, when and which cetacean species can be observed in over 500 regions in more than 70 countries. Besides that you will find important information about whale watching code of conduct and choosing a responsible operator. "Whale Watchers World" also provides information about whale watching gear and photography.

Whaleguide contains more than 250 spectacular photos of whales and dolphins and 67 comparative size drawings. On the basis of a few details that are visible from the boat (or from land) and using the GPS function, the interactive "Finder" helps you to easily distinguish between the 67 species the ones you just spotted. Alternatively, when planning your next trip, you can find out in advance which whales and dolphins you may encounter at your destination. Whaleguide app can also be used offline (except for GPS based functions).

Living Mandala – The Cosmic of Being

Jing Zhou is a multimedia artist, designer, and educator. Jing’s multimedia artwork explores our common humanity and reflects her interest in spiritual experiences, Eastern and Western art, literature, and philosophy. To Jing, creating art is a process of deciphering her life journey.

A Mandala is a universal symbol that appears in different cultures and represent eternity, divinity and harmony. The living Mandala is an exploration into uncharted territories of the human soul sculpted by our present time. Jing Zhou has programmed this living contemporary symbol with an open source programming language including real time data and scientific imagery.

This interactive revolving graphical system signifies our perceptions of life (microcosm) and the universe (macrocosm), our connections to ancient mythology, cosmology, and cultural heritage, and the relationships among mankind, science, technology, and nature in a globalized society. Merging rich historical, cultural, and scientific imagery and symbols with real-time data and relaxing sound, this living organism alters every moment responding to the movement, light, sound, and temperature of its surroundings.

Institut Dony

Certain events can change a life radically. In 2004, on the point of going to live in the Dominican Republic, Frédérique Pichard had an extraordinary encounter with Dony, a wild and free 'ambassador' dolphin that comes to meet people and interact with them. Frédérique then changed her plans and did not leave France. Instead she stayed to set up the Institut Dony. Its mission is to study and to protect ambassador dolphins, and to create a network of scientists and sensitives in order to foster an exchange of ideas. It also carries out inter-species research into communication between man and cetaceans.

Inspiring Children to Learn Outdoors

Cynthia Lee, director of Outdoor Education at University School of Nashville, shares her Young Naturalists program and encourages us all to take children outside to explore, experience and connect with the natural world.

Paper Carving project

Maude White is a papercutting artist. She loves the great strength, yet delicacy of paper. Her work is done on the macro as well as the micro level. Every cut is exact and meaningful. She enjoys playing with space to create fantastic scenes and stories. She considers herself a craftsperson and has a deep respect for the paper she transforms. In pursuing her work, she hopes to make visible to others the immense world of possibilities that every piece of paper holds and she wants her art to communicate to the observer what her words cannot do effectively.
