Rules and Regulations

The Competition is open to professional and amateur photographers and cinematographers from around the world.

By submitting an entry, each contestant agrees to the rules and regulations of the Competition.

All entries must be submitted in digital format through a link to a file sharing website where the photo(s) uploaded and an entry form filled in. There is no submission fee.

Photographs must be in a .jpeg, .jpg or .gif format. Files submitted may not be larger than 10 MB.

If your photo (s) is selected for the Festival, you will have to duly provide original (the best possible) quality file.

Each participant can submit up to 5 entries.

Digital manipulation that distorts the reality of the photos will not be allowed. Only basic enhancements such as sharpening, contrast adjustment, or simple cropping will be allowed. Any changes to the original Photograph not itemized here are unacceptable and will render the Photograph ineligible for a prize.

The submission deadline is 10 May, 2016

The images will be selected based on the following criteria:
          - Artistic/visual appeal.
          - Extent to which the photograph captures the essence of the theme.

No correspondence pertaining to the selection process and decision will be entertained.

One Grand Prize Winner, one Second Place Winner, and one Third Place Winner will be selected.

Up to 50 best photos will be presented at the SENTIENT OCEAN open air exposition in large format prints.

Though you retain copyright in each image submitted, the digital image file(s) submitted will not be returned or acknowledged.

Photos that violate or infringe upon another person's rights, including but not limited to copyright, are not eligible.

Each entrant retains the copyright to his/her Photograph(s), however, by entering the contest, explicitly grants Festival a royalty-free, world-wide, perpetual, non-exclusive license to use each photograph, in whole or in part,  for advertising, marketing, and promotional purposes of the Festival, its website and exhibition, in any and all media now known or hereafter created, including but not limited to publication in catalogs, brochures, blogs, websites and exhibition, at Festival's discretion, without additional notification or permission to entrant or any third party. Any photograph reproduced will include a photographer credit as feasible. The Festival will not be required to pay any additional consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with such uses.

As part of the Dolphinity World Festival a photography competition will be held.

Images related to the ocean (both above and underwater) are considered. Preference will be given to photographs taken in natural environment, that tell the story; where along with beauty, "presence" and a sense of "contact" is clearly captured.

The best images will be awarded prizes, and presented (in large format prints) at the Sentient Ocean open air exhibition. An oceanic port will be transformed into an exhibition hall and selected photos will be presented on the walls of the port of Los Gigantes.

Films related to whales and dolphins are considered. The best films will be screened at the Festival.
